working on a series of 8 smallish paintings (36″x31″) based on the horizon line. symbol based abstractions.. mostly dealing with ideas of decay, memory, memorial, and mythologies of the american west… lol…. but having a hard time in the studio today… ruined two paintings but i think i might just make them about ugliness.. a common theme for me is the battle between the destructive impulse and beauty/ redemption..

that’s beautiful hardart! but sorry to hear about the ruined paintings — sounds like they will serve as pieces about transformation/metamorphosis. :)

On the Jobs Bill, sigh! I don’t even know if I want to think about it. It is necessary, although one provision makes me a little squeamish, but I’m just so tired out by Republican obstructionism. Will it be interesting to see the tricks they will play or will they support this because it is the right thing to do? More teaparty shenigans?

It will be interesting, indeed. Election season is nigh. May better angels prevail.

Thank you sberel. I’m not sure what the best way would be to facilitate a discussion regarding a possible blogathon when the DK boycott is over. Who would lead it? How would it work? What would govern it, etc. Is there enough of a stakeholder buy-in, etc….

      Hopefully others will chime in.

PDNC is really good at organizing blogathons. I am not sure we have enough people at this discussion – just now – to have a fruitful discussion.

No, there aren’t and there may not be many interested. The blogosphere is a diverse place. DK is one of many venues.

As I commented in response to princss in the other thread, I do believe we need to support blogs run by poc and blogs that focus on poc issues.
