Support for the penalty is down, according to a Gallup Poll. Republicans, men, whites and those living in the South and Midwest more like to support it, while people under 30 are more likely to oppose.

    This remains cruel and unusual punishment.  There ought not be any support for state sponsored murder.  I will know we have evolved as a species when we stop the practice of death penalty.  Until then we remain barbarians.
