Over the weekend my beautiful 5 year old granddaughter outlaw (bi-racial daughter of my d-i-l’s sister) who is of Russian Jewish extraction and her AA father came to visit.  We were having tea in the afternoon and she suddenly said to her mother, why does Granma look different?

It came down to my hair, not my skin.  I have wild flyaway medium long thick curly  hair not unlike her own, except mine is almost white.  So we had a long chat about different people from different places having different appearances.  She is fascinated with my hair, and loves me a lot.

We both decided we were very happy with our  respective appearance..  She is absolutely gorgeous, and i used to be pretty hot myself.

A few years back my oldest bi-racial grand daughter asked me why I was brown. I asked her why she wasn’t. She told me she was born that way. End of discussion.  LOL

the best add-on: “the arc of the universe bends towards justice – individuals like you and I can help it on its way.”  That is paraphrased from Charlie Clemens, former director of the UU service committee.
