Game on
Mitt Romney selected his VP candidate on Saturday, enthralling Democrats everywhere. Time and time again Romney has embraced Ryan’s budget, which sets out a plan to steal money from the poor to give to the wealthy.
On top of this, Ryan embraced the Personhood Amendment. He is anti-woman. He is anti-healthcare. He wants to get rid of Medicare. He has no experience, foreign policy or otherwise. I, for one, can’t wait for the debates.
In the meantime, Obama released a terrific ad regarding Romney’s career as a tax evader:
It’s a brilliant ad — one so brilliant, that the Repugs have tried to divert attention from the ad by focusing on a Priorities USA ad that hasn’t aired in a single state. As Rachel Maddow pointed out on her show on Friday, the Repugs have not responded to the Son of Boss ad, but have trumpeted the alleged untruthfulness of a non-Obama third party ad that, again, has not aired in a single state.
Let’s remember one critical thing here — Romney has not disclosed his tax returns and, thus, we do not know whether whatever is contained in them makes Romney impeachable. That said, if Romney is an impeachable candidate, then Ryan’s positions, values, experience, and budget plan matters all that much more.
It is interesting that Romney decided to announce his VP choice in the wee hours of late Friday/early Saturday morning, when no one would be paying attention. Is Romney throwing in the towel? Or is he just one self-sabotaging narcissist?
Either way, the Ryan pick is evidence of a flailing campaign without direction or confidence. I mean, even Sarah Palin had more experience than this fool — at least she’d won a state-wide election. Biden will have him for lunch and it will be delightful to watch.
We are two weeks out from the GOP convention — Mittens will likely get a mini-bump in the polls. In the meantime, we’ve got to continue to get the word out about the new voter ID laws in this country and fight back against GOP voter suppression efforts.
