Governor Brown signs AB 2530.

Brown also signed AB2530 by Assemblywoman Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, a bill that bars the state from shackling inmates who are pregnant or who are recovering from the delivery of a child. It prohibits the use of leg irons and waist chains, and bans authorities from handcuffing the inmates’ hands behind their backs. The bill was revised from a version Brown vetoed last year.
